Appium Desktop is a graphical frontend to Appium with additional tools. Appium Desktop is released on its own cadence and has its own versioning system. If you are reporting an issue with Appium Desktop, always be sure to include both the version of Appium Desktop and the version of the Appium Server which is in use (see below). Appium will not run if NODE or Appium itself is installed using SUDO and MAC won't let you install neither without using SUDO. There is a workaround though. My steps make it possible to install and setup Appium the right way without need to use SUDO for installation. Everything is tested and it works. Below are the steps. Sep 25, 2020 npm install -g appium. The command above will download and install Appium. Once done, verify the Appium installation on macOS or Windows by running the command below: appium -version. This will return the latest Appium version installed in your system. To start the Appium server directly from the terminal just enter “appium” as a command.
